AGCT Intermodal (AGCT-I) conference was held as an introduction of AGCT-I to the public, local port community, authorities and partners and with intention to organize local and international stakeholders within AGCT-I working group envisioned to improve Rijeka's traffic route level of service and its competitivness.
With more than 90 people present from 45 different entities (various companies and authorities) market response was excellent.
Conference was divided in several parts:
- presentation of ICTSI, AGCT development and AGCT-I concept
- speakers on nrelated subject from Luka Rijeka (LR), Croatian Customs (CC), Croatian Railways (HZ) and Port of Rijeka Authority (PRA)
- dicussion on presentation(s) and other intermodal topics followed by establishment of AGCT-I working group.
Main messages are:
- Croatian Customs will start introducing an EU customs standard procedures from 1st August 2011
- Croatian Railways finalized renovation of 80 container rail cars and approved additional 40
- Upgrade of railway infrastructure on corridor Vb both in sense of rail tracks and power supply to be finalized by the end of 2012
- Intention to migrate transport of containers from road to rail has been confirmed by all participants including goal of AGCT to divert 60% of cargo to railway
- Main problems on traffic route are still level of service and value for money
